This page is devoted to the loving tribute to Lady, our friend and companion for eight years.

"I'll sure miss her too. Best pooch I've known for a long time" -Z

"Lady was a cheerful, sweet, well-behaved model of pet dog-hood. She liked people. She wasn't a working dog, except for occassionally working the crowd -- politely -- for handouts. She was gently enthusiastic about being petted. She was a pretty black dog. She was trustworthy around children, and people who weren't used to dogs. I will really miss getting my 'dog fix' around her and you." -'c

One memory I have is from when Lady stayed with us while Jeff & Sharon were out of town. Lady came into the living room & looked at Lissette -- with her head held 'just so'. Lissette said "alright" and headed off. I followed because I was curious. Lissette led Lady to where we'd stored her treats & Lissette got her one. Lady ever so gently took the treat from Lissette & wagged her tail. Lissette said "you're welcome" and they both headed back to the Living Room.

I am not sure what unspoken communication was agreed upon by them during this visit, but it seemed to work for both of them.

My son has met several dogs in his tender years, most of whom scared him. Lady was a gem amongst dogs. She was kind hearted, generous, and loving. Due to Galen's experiences with other dogs, he became acquainted with Lady in a tentative manner. It was a precious thing to see him sitting on the couch with Lady in his lap watching a movie. Because of her kind spirit Galen realized that the right dog can be a wonderful companion.

As an ambassador of her species, she lived up to her name as few humans and dogs ever could.

"Do not stand at my grave and weep. I am not there, I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn's rain. When you awaken in the morning's hush, I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not there, I did not die..." -Anonymous

I recommend Ed Williams' excellent site, http://petloss.com for those who have lost such a friend.
